New Years Resolutions

I've never understood the hate that came when someone professed to make some New Years Resolutions. It’s something that should be encouraged if someone is willing to look internally and work at his or her own self-improvement.  I don’t know why we tend to get negative and sceptical when someone has goals. Let’s be kind to one another, encourage each other’s goals and dreams, and not be crabs in a bucket.

The New Year always causes me to look back at this past year, look ahead at who I want to be, and where I want to be in the future. I always like to set goals for myself during the year but of course especially at the start of the year.

I wanted to write down a few of my New Years resolutions, so they would be tangible in some way and I would hold myself accountable for my own success. This year I want to work towards:
  • Growing more in love with God. I know that without Him this life is meaningless, and I could never do anything without Him. I want to learn more about Him, I want to write more about Him, and I want to sing more about Him.
  • Finding financial freedom. I need to work towards being debt free and not being a financial burden on my grandparents and fiancé.
  • Marrying the love of my life. Yes it’s important to plan a wedding and all but it’s more important to prepare myself for marriage and to be the wife God has called me to be to him.
  • Be patient, kind and love people. I really don’t want to be the unforgiving, bitter, or mean person I used to be.
If you haven’t already, write down your goals for this year. (This reminder is for you and for myself.) It really doesn’t matter if people say, “Really? You want to do that? You can’t do that.” Don’t pay attention to their negativity. Don’t do it for them for or for anyone else but yourself.

And if it means anything to you, I believe in you. I believe everyone and anyone can accomplish greatness. Setting New Years Resolutions/Goals and wanting to pursue a better you is a beautiful way to start.
